“Bring ‘em on!” Redux

We all remember the early days of the Iraq war, when Bush’s machismo swelled to the point where he felt the need to goad the insurgency by taunting them to bring on their attacks on US soldiers. Thousands of US soldiers have died since that statement but it appears little was learned.

Today, Condoleezza Rice brought back memories of that famous quote as she called Al-Sadr a coward. Sadr, whose militia has been a deadly adversary of US troops, had called for a cease fire during the early days of the troop surge. That cease fire had been a major reason for decreased violence. Recently tensions have been rising between us an Sadr. Luckily our chief diplomat is there to insult Sadr and make sure that the violence escalates.

It is a good thing that Americanas and our allies are putting these Islamic terrorists in their place by calling them cowards and pussies and what not.

Shia Muslims (like al-Sadr) are extremely proud people, by demoralizing their support base we will have a longer lasting success in Iraq.

BTW, you do know that we’ve already won the war in Iraq (we did so in about a month) and now we are rebuilding the country and hunting terrorists.

al-Sadr will be taken out soon.

Mark it, nuncle.

Actually, I’d argue that as a proud people, we are not demoralizing them but rather enraging them by insulting them. As for the when the war was won, technically this was never a war but rather a military action. As such, though Bush may choose to declare that the mission has been accomplished, I’d argue that until we are able to bring our troops home we are still in the same mess we’ve been in.
